Conundrum Manor

You step through the front door of a dilapidated mansion and find an unsigned note on a table. "Help fix up the house by completing this list of chores and you will be rewarded!" it reads. You look to find that the list has been ripped into shreds and scattered across the floor! Some of the words are even ripped out or smudged! A brief gust of wind blows the original note over, and you can see more written on the back. "Find the word that fills in the blank for each chore by replacing the ink splat with the previous word in the word chain. The length of each word in the chain is given in parentheses." Find the missing word in the final chore to discover the identity of the mysterious note writer!
